Congratulations on Matt’s successful thesis defense on March 9! He gave a virtual presentation via Zoom, answered questions from the general audience, and then met privately with his Committee members. His presentation focused on the effect of fuel nitrogen on soot formation, including interactions between ammonia (NH3) and methane, and sooting tendencies of nitrogenated hydrocarbons. After graduation, Matt plans to finish the semester with the group to wrap up some combustion and nanomaterial projects. He will also continue his work with the local start-up “Obsidian” on 2D materials-based projects.
